AnnotationThere is a paucity of observational studies of the impact of home care services on burden or other aspects of the caregiver's experience. This study examined whether the use of care services was associated with lower feelings of burden among 82 pairs of people with dementia and their principal family caregivers in a town in the north of Japan. After controlling for the effects of severity of impairments, the use of home care services was found to be associated with lower feelings of burden, suggesting that such care services provided under long-term care (LTC) insurance have been successful in reducing burden.
