Annotation | Diagnostic disclosure is considered a basic intervention in dementia care for both patient and carer. Although it is standard practice in the Netherlands for clinicians to disclose a diagnosis of dementia, no guidelines are available. The authors describe how Alzheimer Centres in the Netherlands have developed a model for disclosure of the diagnosis of dementia. They recommend procedures for physicians and nurse practitioners to follow (and what should not be included) at disclosure meetings with people with dementia and their carers. (RH). |
