Annotation | This is one of eleven papers from the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) 8th Global Conference in May 2006 in this final issue of Generations Review. It reviews what can be done by planners and traffic engineers to maintain the independent mobility of older people in Britain. These include: reducing traffic speed; traffic calming; and making crossing roads safer, for example by introducing pedestrian refuges. (RH). |
