Annotation | The Women's Association for a Better Aging Society (WABAS) was established in 1983, and is the only organisation in Japan that acts as an information conduit to policy makers and the public. This is one of eleven papers from the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) 8th Global Conference in May 2006 in this final issue of Generations Review. In it, the authors outline the rationale of WABAS, along with the work of two other organisations in Japan: the Kyoto Women's Association for a Better Aging Society; and the the Kitakyushu Women's Association for a Better Aging Society. They conclude by stressing the importance of a gender perspective in all policies and of applying women's study analyses to issues around population ageing. (RH). |
