AnnotationThe Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill received Royal Assent on 25 July 2006. The Act sets out a framework under which the National Assembly for Wales is able to introduce secondary legislation making detailed provision as to the appointment, staffing, financing and functions of the Commissioner. It is proposed that the secondary legislation will comprise two sets of Regulations: one set dealing with arrangements for the appointment and term of office of the Commissioner; and the other set dealing with the administrative and wider strategic functions of the Commissioner. These two sets of Regulations, together with Explanatory Notes and a Regulatory Appraisal are now in draft form for public consultation. The deadline for responses is 20 October 2006, and written comments can be submitted to: Consultation: Commissioner for Older People in Wales, Older People and Long Term Care Policy Directorate 4, Welsh Assembly Government, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ.
