AnnotationRelationships between religiosity and work-related attitudes were assessed for 182 paraprofessional and 125 professional staff in 61 assisted living facilities in Maryland. Data were collected from staff using self-administered questionnaires. The attitudes examined included job satisfaction, co-worker satisfaction, and organisational commitment. Greater religiosity was found to be associated with higher job satisfaction and greater organisational commitment among paraprofessional staff. When considered together with age, sex and education, religiosity emerged as a significant predictor of organisational commitment for paraprofessional staff. Since lack of commitment predicts staff turnover, these findings have practical implications for administrators who want to increase staff retention. (RH).
