Annotation"Ministering to older adults: the building blocks" offers an approach to the systematic development of programmes and services for older people, focusing on spiritual rather than psychological or social service needs. This model has been proven to work with more than 40 congregations of various denominations in southern California. This volume begins with a discussion of the demographics of congregational ministry, and the stages of developing an older adult ministry programme (OAM). The second part reflects specific types of programming for adult learning, spiritual support, pastoral care, and volunteers. This issue of the Journal of Religion, Spirituality and Aging has been co-published simultaneously as a monograph by the Haworth Pastoral Press. (RH).
