AnnotationThe Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) has a long tradition of providing services directly to the community and specific client groups. This is the first agreement exclusively between the Department of Health (DH), the National Health Service (NHS) and the Voluntary and Community Sector, to promote the VCS' increasing role in contributing to health service delivery, as well as its complementary and distinct roles in relation to promoting health and health care, and in lobbying and advocacy. This document outlines the context and aims of the strategic agreement. It was informed by a user consultation which took place between August and November 2003. (RH).
