Annotation | This summary outlines the main findings of "Pensions and pension reform", a report of research carried out by IFF Research Ltd on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP research report, no 357). The survey on which this is based was carried out in advance of publication of the Pensions Commission's second report in November 2005 and of a pensions White Paper. The summary outlines findings on these issues: knowing enough to take the right savings decisions; trust in pensions; awareness of pension shortcomings; overcoming pensions shortfalls and working longer; the state pension age (SPA) and retirement age; and tax increases. Findings on people's views on the contributory principle, compulsory saving, automatic enrolment into pension schemes, and attitudes to risk and to employer pension provision are also outlined.
