Annotation | This response from Age Concern England (ACE) to the Green Paper, "A new deal for welfare: empowering people to work" (Cm 6730) has been informed by ACE's dialogue with government departments, academics, and voluntary organisations, also the seminar "Health and Older Workers" held in July 2006. It also builds on ACE's evidence to the Work and Pensions Select Committee inquiry into "Pathways to work and incapacity benefit reform". The response comments on each chapter in turn. While inclusion of a chapter on helping older workers is welcomed, concerns are expressed about the effectiveness, for example, of Pathways to Work and delivery of welfare reform. (RH). |
