Annotation | The author considers some of the legal complexities involved in developing extra care housing for people with dementia. He discusses, first, whether extra care schemes will be registrable under the Care Standards Act 2000 as a care home. Second, will dementia sufferers have the mental capacity to enter into tenancies? Lastly, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 should be considered with regard to landlords' actions in accepting or ending tenancies. (RH). |
