AnnotationWhere there are high proportions of older people in local populations, the recruitment and retention of care workers is particularly important. The authors find out how Blackpool Council has developed two pilot projects to make social work more attractive for existing and future staff. The first initiative focuses on aspects of training in domiciliary care to increase the skills of the existing workforce. The second is aimed at attracting young people to social work: students from Blackpool and the Fylde College can gain work experience in health and social care. (RH).
