Annotation | Discussing emotional issues is a central part of care in dementia, and can help individuals value and make sense of their lives. The Alzheimer's cafe - the first one opening in the Netherlands in 1997 - can help facilitate this. This article is a reflective account, which reviews an adapted version of an Alzheimer's café, focusing on eight couples where one partner was newly diagnosed with dementia. (RH). |
