Annotation | The importance of the bond between older people and their companion animals is increasingly recognised. Animal Assisted Activities and Animal Assisted Therapies (AAA/AAT) are now accepted as valid interventions for older people, whether they live in care setting or in their own home. In the second of two articles, the author examines the basics of planning an AAA/AAT programme, including health and safety issues, and suggests organisations for further information. (RH). |
