AnnotationIn Sheffield, the multidisciplinary community rehabilitation team has become aware that increasing numbers of clients recovering from stroke identify returning to driving as their main therapy goal. This article describes how a project group of occupational therapies and clinical psychologist have worked together to examine and deal with concerns around: information for clients about driving after stoke; developing a comprehensive cognitive assessment; the ability to monitor cognitive processes and behaviour, preferably while a client is still receiving rehabilitation; and developing better systems of communication between services treating clients and the general practitioner (GP) making decisions regarding fitness to drive.
