Annotation | 'Say what you like!' is a campaign developed by NIACE to support the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) Skills for Life Strategy. The campaign aims to understand the triggers and barriers adults face in starting to learn, to encourage learners to tell their story of their learning journey. This booklet is aimed at tutors of literacy, numeracy or ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to use with their learners. It introduces Participatory Action Research (PAR), a way of getting researchers, tutors and learners to work together on small-scale research activities. This booklet is the first of five publications with a final report at the end of the campaign; a DVD is also available which portrays learners talking about their experiences of returning to education.
