AnnotationOn 21 July 2005, the House of Commons Work and Pensions Select Committee announced an inquiry "to examine the Government's strategy to help more people who are not in work due to ill health or disability move into employment through a reformed system of incapacity benefits and the lessons learned from the Pathways to Work pilot schemes." Age Concern's response raises questions relating to concerns that about half of incapacity benefit claimants are over 50, and that around half of early departures from work are due to ill health. The full version of the response to this Consultation can be obtained from Age Concern's website in the policy papers section under "Information and Policy", or on receipt of an SAE at the address given.
