AnnotationThe purpose of the workshop was to help scheme managers and residents to: recognise the symptoms of depression; know what help is available; and explore the ways in which sheltered housing can reduce older people's vulnerability to depression, especially through mitigating stress factors and promoting social activity. Workshop sessions and presentations focused on the medical and social models of depression. The workshop was co-hosted by Mary Godfrey, a co-author of "Depression and older people" (Help the Aged, 2004); she provided two vignettes for participants to discuss and to identify obstacles and offer solutions.
