Annotation | The goals, development and outcome of an innovative, interdisciplinary Master of Gerontology course programme in Israel is described. An interdisciplinary faculty and student body both report a high satisfaction level, involvement, and attainment of wide knowledge bases in gerontology and geriatrics. The number of candidates for the course increases every year. A new course for doctors has evolved, with strong support from the University of Haifa, the Council for Higher Education in Israel, and key service organisations for older people. Such a course enhances the level of professional leadership in the field of ageing, and it expands the cadre of an academic faculty. (RH). |
