AnnotationLondon's older people should have choice and control over their lives, and have their contribution to London's society and economy properly valued. This draft strategy is for present and future older people, and sets out actions which aim to make a difference to the lives of older people living in London. The Mayor, Ken Livingstone, has prioritised four key issues as having the potential for making a significant contribution to the quality of life for older Londoners: : challenging perceptions and promoting the contribution of older people; pensions and income; supporting discretionary services (e.g. community centres, lifelong learning, and the Freedom Pass); and promoting good quality social care. Other policy areas are: engaging with older Londoners; age equality; access to employment; housing and homelessness; e-Government and access to new technologies; culture; transport; crime and personal safety; and environment. The highlights (16 pp) summarise these priorities. Views and questionnaire responses are sought by 8 February 2006. (RH).
