Annotation | The author reports on her research into care managers' perspectives and experiences of using assistive technology to support people with dementia in their own homes. The research was carried out in one Scottish local authority which had set up a system where assistive technology could be directly accessed by practitioners via a single shared assessment route, and using the work of ASTRID (A Social and Technological Response to meeting the needs of Individuals with Dementia) developed by Mary Marshall in 2000. The article considers issues of informed consent, risk, support and guidance, and assessment and care management. (RH). |
