AnnotationCombined Pension Forecasts (CPFs) bring together state pensions forecast information with a forecast of an individual's current occupational or private pension, to provide information needed to help people to plan for retirement. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) commissioned BMRB to establish levels of CPF recall among recipients and the extent of its impact on their retirement planning activities, and thereby measure the effectiveness of the initiative. The research is based on a telephone survey between March and May 2005 of 5,092 people known to have received a CPF within 18 months prior to interview. The findings suggest that for those who recalled the CPF (4 in 10 of respondents), there are a number of indicators that point to the CFP playing an influencing role on retirement planning activity - in the longer term if current circumstances prevent immediate action.
