Annotation | Housing, health and social care practitioners are learning how contact with companion animals can improve older people's health and quality of life. In the first of two articles, the author presents the evidence, that far from being a new concept, the benefits derived from animal contact have been known about for a few centuries. This article gives an overview of more formal scientific studies from the last 30 years. (RH). |
