AnnotationFollowing the response from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) report "Care homes for older people in the UK: a market survey", the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) outlines the actions it proposes to take to address the OFT's recommendations. It notes particularly the OFT's concerns regarding access to care services, a concern which the CSCI is encompassing in its corporate plan. CSCI's response specifically covers: information about moving into a care home; local authority obligations; "top-ups" and price transparency; written contracts and statements of terms; and making complaints. CSCI is working on a more detailed action plan and considering the resource implications. It intends to share its completed proposals with the OFT and the Department of Health (DH) by October 2005.
