Annotation | Health promotion in the workplace provides the opportunity to enhance and ensure employees' well-being and health. The care sector in general and domiciliary care in particular has problems of low social prestige, coupled with increasing demands and difficult working conditions. The authors report practical experiences with workplace health promotion in domiciliary care arising from an Austrian project funded under the European Union (EU) EQUAL programme. They review research-based findings on working conditions, and indicate starting points for health promoting measures. They describe the approach, and give an insight into challenges and obstacles to workplace health promotion in this field of work. The issues have strong relevance for the UK. (RH). |
