Annotation | Debate about the balance to be struck between intergenerational and intragenerational funding in Australia and the UK took somewhat different courses before and after the crossover in national governments' political persuasions that occurred in 1996-1997. However, both countries' governments continue to grapple with the question as to whether older people's housing assets are a resource for private, intergenerational transfers, or as a source of intragenerational funding for aged care.
