Annotation | The Sandwell Telecare Project is an innovatory venture to pioneer the introduction of electronic aids to enable vulnerable people to live independently. This article describes a case study of the project and reports the conclusions of the evaluation undertaken by an independent consultant, with particular reference to the implications for the management of risk and the innovatory process. The publication of this article is particularly timely in view of the expressed intention of the Department of Health (DH) to make a substantial national investment in assistive technology such as this Project for the two years from 2006. The investment will be known as the Preventative Technology Grant. (KJ/RH). |
