Annotation | Hact is a catalyst for change, working in partnership with vulnerable and marginalised people and communities to improve their quality of life, while focusing on housing and related needs and aspirations. Aimed at people interested in cutting edge housing issues, these four Spark magazines were published by hact between 2005 and 2007. Issue 1 is an introduction to hact's work with older people, with a brief look at other current programmes. Hact has an older people's programme funded by the Henry Smith Charity and provides grants to initiatives that explore different way of meeting their housing and related needs. Issue 1 includes articles on home improvements, activism, rural outreach, telecare, BME housing, and homelessness, all in relation to older people. Issue 2 introduces hact's Refugee Housing Integration Programme, with a broader look at the immigration and asylum debate. Issue 3 looks at what can be learnt from the Supporting People project funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). Lastly, Issue 4 reports on insights from hact's Older People's Programme, including equity-based loans; the importance of choice; resourcing the future; the value of partnerships and listening to BME older people; and the work of Care and Repair England in helping to improve older people's housing.
