AnnotationThe Department of Trade and Industry's consultation document, "Work and families: choice and flexibility" (www.dti.gov.uk/er/choice_flexibility_consultation.... mainly concerns families and their childcare responsibilities. In its response, Age Concern England (ACE) focuses on the section on flexible working, to emphasise the essential role of some 3 million carers aged 50+, including many who work or want to work. ACE strongly support increasing the ability of older people and carers to work flexibly, and this summary puts the case for the "right to request" flexible working. The full version of this response to the Consultation can be obtained from Age Concern's website. (RH).
