AnnotationThe Pensions Act 2004 introduced a choice for people who put off claiming their state pension and made important changes to the existing rules from 6 April 2005. This booklet introduces these changes. The changes mean that people will be able to choose either extra weekly pension for life when they do finally claim or in certain circumstances, a one-off taxable lump sum payment and finally, as currently is the case, stop work and claim their state pension. The Leaflet SPD1 explains in more detail the state pension deferral scheme. (KJ).
