Annotation | Nursing and residential care homes provide familiar and safe environments where any risks to individuals are minimised. Equally important, though, is maintaining a sense of independence, a balance that is difficult to strike in supervised care homes. This article looks at issues relating to the most recent generation of assistive technology, and whether that could provide safety and reassurance for people in their own homes. (RH). |
