Annotation | This Government Bill makes provision for the establishment of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights, and dissolves the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) and the Disability Rights Commission (DRC). It makes provision about discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief, and imposes duties on public authorities to prohibit sex discrimination. Explanatory notes to the Bill, prepared by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), are published as Bill 72-EN. Following the calling of the General Election, this Bill was dropped. (RH). |
