Annotation | The Act makes new provision relating to persons who lack capacity, and establishes a superior court of record called the Court of Protection in place of the office of the Supreme Court called by that name. There will also be an officer, the Public Guardian, among whose functions will be to establish and maintain a register of lasting powers of attorney. The Act makes provision in connection with the Convention on the International Protection of Adults signed at the Hague on 13th January 2000. Explanatory notes have been produced to assist in the understanding of this Act and are available separately. (RH). |
