AnnotationThis volume focuses on recent developments by US congregations in providing specific services for older adults. The articles focus first on the separation of church and state, followed by an exploration of the role of religious congregations. An edited transcript follows of an interview with Elizabeth Seale-Scott, Director of the Center for Faith-based and Community Initiatives in the US Department of Health and Human Services. Two individual perspectives are offered from a Baptist and Volunteers of America, followed by a view of faith organisations and ethnically diverse elders. The final section offers an historical perspective on the field of religion, spirituality and ageing. This volume is dedicated to the memory of Donald F Clingan, one of the founders of the National Interfaith Coalition on Aging, a key player in two White House Conferences on Aging. (KJ/RH).
