Annotation | Activity provision is increasingly being seen as of therapeutic value and an integral part of quality care practice. Contributors consider differences between old and new practices from the perspectives of the politician, the manager, the care assistant, the activity provider, the researcher, the trainer, the community worker and the activity charity. Accounts of some recent projects illustrate the new culture of therapeutic activity: a day-care team in Harlow, Essex; occupational therapists in Leicester and their response to chronic disability; the introduction of new culture approaches in the residential sector (the Westminster project); and the importance of networking and collaboration in the Growing With Age project. Lastly, the work of the National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People (NAPA) is described. (RH). |
