AnnotationDuring 2004 the Department of Health (DH) initiated a debate about the future 'vision' for adult social care services. SPRU conducted a review of recent literature from service user and other relevant organisations. The aim was to find out what adult service users wanted from social care services. The review also compared the aspirations of adult service users against the consultation framework for children's services set out in the Green Paper "Every child matters". Ten key outcomes were identified by SPRU which users would like to achieve when using any future social care services: Maintaining independence; Keeping clean and comfortable; Enjoying a clean and orderly environment; Being safe; Sustaining social contact and company; Keeping active and alert; Living healthier and longer lives; Maintaining an adequate income; Having opportunities to contribute to family and community; and, Feeling valued.
