AnnotationWhile some perceptions hold true, this report shatters some of the myths and prejudices concerning the European Union and its enlargement in May 2004. Drawing of the results of Eurobarometer surveys carried out by the EU and the 13 acceding and candidate countries (ACC), this resumé examines different quality of life issues such as social exclusion and integration, employment, and care in an ageing society. The findings will be pertinent to the social policy debates which are likely to continue some time after EU enlargement. (RH).
