AnnotationIn order to make an informed choice on whether to stay put or move to a more suitable home, older people need good housing information and advice. Care & Repair England have produced these four summary reports as part of its "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" programme. An evaluation overview looks at the eight pilot local "housing options" services in Bristol, Burnley, Derbyshire Dales, East Riding of Yorkshire, Enfield, Hackney, Leeds and Warwickshire. The evaluation examined three questions and the lessons for those concerned with the development of housing, health and social services for older people. First, is there a need for and/or demand for housing option services? Second, to what extent did these services improve the housing situation of individual older people? Third, can the services help to improve the local housing situation of older people more generally through influencing service provision and planning? The other three summaries cover findings of the evaluation that are of particular relevance to the social rented sector, rural areas, and black and minority ethnic (BME) elders. (RH).
