AnnotationThe Pension Protection Fund, which became operational in April 2005, was established under the Pensions Act 2004. It is a statutory Fund run by an independent Board, and provides for the first time, a level of security for members of certain occupational pension schemes that compensation may be paid to them, even if their employer becomes insolvent.
