AnnotationMEC Minority Elderly Care is a UK-led research project with partners in Finland, France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Croatia and Switzerland. In this report, contributors from each country present information and data variously on demographic patterns, the socioeconomic situation of ethnic minorities, and health and social care service provision and take-up. For the first time, statistically significant research evidence is available on the circumstances and opinions of informants aged 50+ from more than 20 minority ethnic groups across Europe, considering as the report does, service issues from the points of view of both minority ethnic elders and health and social care professionals. The MEC project is supported by the European Commission's Fifth Framework Research Programme (the Ageing Population and Disabilities) under the Quality of Life and management of Living Resources Programme (1998-2002).
