Annotation | The report "Forced labour and migration" has been published by the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society in conjunction with the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to mark the first anniversary of the Morecambe Bay tragedy when 21 Chinese migrant workers drowned. The report details the extent of exploitation of migrant labour in the UK, including in care homes. The author of this article points to the difficulties in attracting UK workers to staff nursing and care homes with the rates of pay that are offered, something which could be resolved with increased levels of social care funding.
