Annotation | The role of community matrons, as described in recent Department of Health documentation on "Supporting people with long-term conditions", is questioned. Although they will work across health and social care services, only those with nursing qualifications will be eligible. The author reports that while organisations such as the Long-Term Medical Conditions Alliance welcome the idea, the focus on keeping people out of hospital may be to the detriment of having access to other health and social care services.
