AnnotationThis report presents cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses of the two-wave Retirement Survey commissioned by the DSS and undertaken by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys (OPCS) in 1988/89 and 1994. The surveys examine the circumstances of a representative sample of people aged 55-69 when first interviewed, and their partners, and at what happened in the transition to retirement. Analysis covers incomes, assets, housing, pension entitlements, disability, caring responsibilities, retirement and labour market participation of the "young old" age group. (RH).
