Annotation | This Research Briefing provides an overview of key results from the MEC (Minority Elderly Care) study across the 10 participating countries: UK, Finland, France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Croatia and Switzerland. The MEC project was submitted as a research proposal in 2000 under the European Commission's Fifth Framework Research Programme (the Ageing Population and Disabilities). For the first time, statistically significant research evidence is available on the circumstances and opinions of informants aged 50+ from more than 20 minority ethnic groups across Europe, considering as it does services issues from three dimensions: minority ethnic elders; health and social care professionals; and the minority ethnic voluntary sector.
