AnnotationThe Citizenship Survey comprises a nationally representative sample of 10,015 people in England and Wales and an additional sample of 5,460 people from minority ethnic groups. This report sets out the key findings from the 2001 survey, which considers five key themes related to citizenship: what it means to be a good citizen; perceptions of racial prejudices and discrimination; people's involvement in their neighbourhoods; active participation in communities; and family networks and parenting support. Although not directly comparable to the last National survey of volunteering carried out in 1997, the section on active participation in communities presents findings relating to various forms of volunteering.
