Annotation | A study of 252 Koreans (107 in the community, 145 in nursing homes) were assessed at baseline, 6 and 12 months, to test a hypothesis that Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients in nursing homes have higher mortality rates than those cared for at home. The overall 1-year mortality rate was 18.7%, but there was no statistically significant difference in AD mortality between those cared for at home or in a nursing home. However, the study did find that presence of tactile hallucination to be a strong predictor of mortality in AD. (RH). |
