Annotation | Home Improvement Agencies (HIAs) are small, locally-based, not-for-profit organisations that can assist older, disabled or vulnerable homeowners or private sector tenants to repair, maintain or adapt their homes. This booklet provides evidence that handyperson services managed by HIAs can have a major impact on local authority and health services in meeting users' needs. Examples include preventing falls in the home, getting people discharged from hospital earlier, providing security measures, carrying out minor repairs, and fitting minor adaptations. (RH). |
