The Scottish Executive commissioned MORI Scotland to conduct this second survey, the aims being to: examine the views of a representative sample of the adult Scottish population (1,401 adults aged 16+) on a range of mental health-related issues; and compare findings with other relevant survey data and the findings from the 2002 survey to track changes in perceptions and attitudes. This report describes the research methodology, analysis and demographic profile. It presents the detailed findings on: general health and lifestyle; mental health and well-being; experience of mental health problems; information sources and awareness of mental health issues; attitudes towards mental health problems; and attitudes towards specific symptoms of mental ill health.
