AnnotationAs demographers project a significant increase in HIV in older people, the need for increasingly vigorous HIV prevention, outreach and services for older people has already arrived in the US. This monograph has been co-published simultaneously as Journal of HIV/AIDS & Social Services, vol 3, no 1, 2004. Contributors examine: the knowledge and use of AIDS and ageing services; African American women's perceptions of vulnerability to HIV; middle age women with HIV; and reconciling successful ageing with HIV. A pilot study of a cognitive intervention focuses on compensating for cognitive deficits in people aged 50+ with HIV/AIDS; and six champions speak out about being over 50 and living with AIDS. The book concludes with resource information provided by the National Association on HIV Over Fifty (NAHOF). (RH).
