Annotation | The author reports on the findings of a 3-year participatory action research study, "New lifestyles in old age: health, identity and well-being in Berryhill Retirement Village", carried out with colleagues Bernadette Bartlam, Simon Biggs and Julius Sim at Keele University. The study explores what it is like to live and work in the village, which was developed by the Extra-Care Charitable Trust and Touchstone Housing Association. Funded by the Community Fund (now the New Big Lottery Fund), the study suggests that Berryhill works well for many. However, there were particular challenges for all involved. (RH). |
